My first experience was a Focus at my local music shop back in 1987! I'd seen all the bands with their Kramers & there was this F1000 in the shop, I had a play & it played/sounded great but the price tag was too high over here in the UK at £499!

I needed a "Floyd Rose" was why I bought a Kramer. ( A lot of people did back then though) Still have a flip blue Pacer I bought new back in the day.

Jeez where do I start.... middle 80's saw the no bozo pic with eddie, local store had a white baretta. kinda liked it. then in the late 80's was infactuated with the FR. bought a kramer striker 600st. little did I know that floyd was kinda junk. single locking and wouldnt stay in tune, especially G and B. and they would break constantly.the saddle must have had a score in it or something. some how I got a guy at work who was more into the image than to be a real player, to trade a striker for a hundred series w/FRII double locking. for a little extra cash.(I cant remember how much LOL) Then I was hooked. although modified, still my No. 1.

Like you guys, the Floyd, had to have it. Why, well because of Mr. Van Halen. Just like Styxer, I went and got a Striker with the FR-II (non-locking style) and realized later the differences. That's how I got into modifying/upgrading.

Early 80s; kid going into a music store to buy a real guitar with some money made during a summer job. Thought I was getting a strat or the like. Saw a kramer Imp hanging there. Remembered VH playing one from the US festival that was televised back then. Saw the wild trem thing there. Played it and was hooked. Didn't have enough for it so I settled for a focus 2000....

Funnily enough Eddie van halen pulled me into the brand as well... Although I never saw him currently playing one or anything, I had always recognized him with his Frankenstein, and I really wanted to make one. Through research I found that he used to play kramers... and from then on I wanted one to make into a Frankenstein! Unfortunatly I did this at age 13 or so and had no access to money or kramers, so I settled on my old starcaster by fender!
Always had th3 kramer itch tho!

Pretty much all of my 80's heroes played Kramers, I loved the looks and that's what sucked me in. I still remember magazines with Cinderella, Crimson Glory, Motley Crue pics and a certain pic of the Jersey Star that just looked killer. It was less the sound and all about the looks.

Richie Sambora did it for me and that model was the first Kramer I ever owned. I just wish I would have held on to it!

It was an article in Guitarist (I think) magazine on good used values. A Pacer was one of the guitars in there and it was the one that really grabbed my attention and I started looking for them. This was probably early 2000s, the first one I found was a Focus 6000 at Guitar Center for $225 or so.

Mick Mars. That Mirror Tele was the beginning of it all for me!

The german floyd rose, japanese construction, and cheap used prices gave me the bug (I was late to the party). I like some of the endorsed artists/bands, but it's always been about function to me (super strat!).

Somebody on a Brian May guitar forum posted a link to this page on VK showing a 1984 Guild Brian May guitar in Eddie's collection: www.vintagekramer.com/5150f.htmI started exploring VK and pretty much got sucked in then.
