LOL, true I won't use the switches anyway, I only ever play the bridge in humbucker mode and the neck, so the 3-way toggle will do.

Nice axe indeed. Is it neck-through or set neck construction?

Any idea what a Gibson with the Explorer headstock with a single humbucker Baretta style guitar was called ? I got one in a even trade for a Honda 750 motorcycle back in 1987..I have never seen another one anywhere, it had a Kahler tremelo and it was neck through.it was gloss black and badass! I didn't know it would turn into a rare bird.I don't even remember why I sold it, probably younger and dumb!

It should be some variety of the U2 or the US-x series, maybe the older Victory series. I know of no other strat-ish models with that HS, but then I don't know them all either. U2 was available with Kahler OFR copy, regular cam Kahler, Schaller Floyd, Steinberger trem and I think even Kahler Spyder. They used many trems during those several years, for whatever reason.
Those are all set-neck though. Gibson rarely did through-necks, only exception I know of is the Firebird.

I believe it's possibly a Victory series, a friend of mine that remembers the guitar said he remembers the name Victory.he had told me that last year but I needed to maybe confirm this..and it probably was a set neck, I didn't know really anything about guitars except how to half ass play them back in 87'.

I only ever use bridge and neck pups, so I'm fine. Neck is always on and I use the blower switch to choose between that and the bridge pup, the rest of the switches and the tone pot are never used. The quality is fine, but it's a lot of stuff - looks like ten feet of wiring inside.
